In the market or on the market?

Generally speaking, only the commodity itself is on the market, while the traders themselves and other aspects of the trade are in the market. So one puts one’s pork bellies on the market at the lowest price in the market.
in the market : in the position of being a potential buyer Ex: in the market for a house
on the market : available for purchase; also : up for sale
Ex: put their house on the market
More examples: 'Company operates in the same market as you'
'What market do you sell in?'
'Are you mainly in the European market?'
Americans would use 'on' as a preposition in the sentences above.))))
