Two cats
took some stolen cheese to a monkey to divide for them, as they could not agree
about it. The monkey put a piece of cheese into each side of the scales. One
piece weighed down the other, and from this the monkey took a large bite; this
made the other side heavier, so he bit a great piece off that.
The cats
tried to stop him, but he only laughed and went on biting first one piece and
then the other, until both had disappeared, and the cats were left with nothing
at all.
